Course Description

This qualification is designed to reflect the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional identification. At this level individuals are expected to apply theoretical and technical skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

This qualification includes units that comprise an approved Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) course in Australian taxation law and commercial law. Persons seeking registration with the TPB should check current registration requirements with the Board.

Entry Requirements

  • All students must of the age of 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission at Australian School Of Commerce
  • Entry in to this course requires IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent in line with DIBP regulations’
  • Student will be required to complete a placement test to ensure that the student has the ability to complete the course. This test will occur prior to course commencement.

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy [LLN]

Prior to course commencement, every potential student’s English language skills will be assessed against current levels of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing proficiency to place them at the appropriate level

ASOC will conduct a LLN Test for each potential student. During this Test, if a student:

  • is assessed as needing additional LLN support, this will be provided during their course of study, or
  • is assessed as not having the appropriate English proficiency level for entry into this qualification, they will be required complete a preliminary English language course
  • A Pre – Enrolment Interview will be conducted after the student completes the LLN evaluation. This will ensure that the student will meet the requirements of the training product.

 Pathways from the qualification

Successful completion may enable the student to apply for Degree Level courses at other institutions

 Employment Pathway

Employment outcomes resulting from the completion of this course may include the following roles:

  • Working with an accounting firm / bookkeeping
  • Other role in an accounting department of an organisation.
